Corporate Volunteering in Action: Bubble Design Join Us at Thornberry

This summer, we welcomed two groups of volunteers from Bubble Design, a local design and marketing agency, for two jam-packed days of hands-on help at Thornberry.

As part of their 2025 social impact programme, Bubble team members spent time across two days helping our staff with a wide range of essential tasks – from walking and grooming dogs, to cleaning enclosures and supporting our on-site shop.

We caught up with the team to find out how they got on and why they chose to dedicate their corporate volunteering days with us.

Here’s what Bubble said…

“Getting to spend the day helping animals and working with the Thornberry team was honestly so fulfilling. It’s not something I’d normally get to do, but I left feeling like I’d really made a difference.” – Abbi, Accounts Assistant

“Helping out in the shop and seeing how even small tasks contribute to the bigger picture was really motivating. Every role makes a difference in providing for the animals at the sanctuary.” – Lewis, Web Designer

“Volunteering at Thornberry was the perfect way to connect with my team outside of the usual work context. It felt good to give back in a hands-on way – and the animals definitely stole our hearts.” – David, Senior Creative Designer

Why are corporate volunteering days important?

Corporate volunteering days are more than just a day out of the office. For charities like Thornberry, they’re a powerful way to build lasting relationships with local businesses, raise awareness and get practical support that helps us keep going.

They also give businesses and their employees a chance to:

  • Connect with causes that matter
  • Make a tangible impact in their community
  • Strengthen team bonds through shared purpose
  • Step outside their usual environment and gain new perspective
  •

Speaking with the Managing Director at Bubble Design, Chris Peacock, he told us:

“At Bubble, we believe that businesses have a responsibility to support the communities they’re part of. Corporate volunteering is one of the most direct and meaningful ways we can do that. We’re proud to support their incredible work and encourage our team to use their skills, energy and compassion to give something back to local charities like Thornberry Animal Sanctuary.”
